Fortune Cookies

I was making Chinese food the other night and remembered seeing a recipe for making fortune cookies on a blog. I thought the girls would think they were fun, so I gave it a shot. Here's the link if you want the recipe: http://www.ourbestbites.com/2010/02/fortune-cookies/
Here's how they started out. Just a smear of batter on a cookie sheet.
Then they came out of the oven like this:
I VERY quickly put the fortunes in and shaped them
And here's the final product
They weren't as bad as regular fortune cookies, but not as yummy as a normal cookie either, so don't expect miracles. But they were fun to do, and made my Chinese meal seem a bit more official. :)

Oh, and Everett ate with us at the table for the first time ever. We started rice cereal a few days ago, but this was the first time he sat in the booster seat at the table. Such a big boy.

Rainy Saturday

It was a rainy saturday today. And I loved it. We made waffles and warm cinnamon apples and ate breakfast lazily. The girls and Daddy went out in the rain with pjs, boots and umbrellas. We all stayed in pjs for a LONG time. (Belle wore hers all day and then slept in them again!) We all colored around our coffee table. We made a silly little butterfly with melted crayon shavings and wax paper. (Belle wants to sharpen every crayon, so I figured we might as well use those shavings!)

The girls played dress up in my closet.

I took Lucy on a long overdue date (just the 2 of us). I let her choose the restaurant and she chose my fav...Taco Bell. Such a sweet girl...she knows its my fav. After lunch we swung into the Goodwill nearby to check for rainboots. We scored some for Belle from a different Goodwill store a couple of weeks ago and I keep hoping to find Lucy some. So does Lucy. She was totally excited to go check for them. And of course we had fun looking at everything else there too! A date with my girl complete with Taco Bell and Goodwill. That's my kind of date. I'm glad she loves it too! When we got home I piled blankets on the couch and snuggled with all 3 kiddos and watched a movie. And sweet little Everett fell asleep on me. He hasn't done that in a while. We are pretty strict about laying him in his crib. But I just let him sleep on me and I loved it. Ahhh.

And before the girls went to bed I curled their hair (with paper towels) for the first time ever. What a fun, lazy, rainy Saturday. Loved it.

St. Patrick's Day

We had fun celebrating today! St. Patrick's Day isn't something I usually celebrate, but with kids, it is so fun to celebrate holidays! I love finding fun ideas to do to make days special, and a day devoted to green made that easy!
We started our day with GREEN milk and GREEN quiche and GREEN grapes and kiwi (didn't take a pic of that...whoops!)
Then we had some friends over for a little party where we made GREEN noodle necklaces, made GREEN contact paper shamrocks and ate a GREEN lunch!

We love having fun friends to have a good time with! I'm glad they are always up for a party!

HAIRCUT!

I gave Lucy a haircut the other day. After I finished cutting her hair, Lucy and I walked into the kitchen to throw away the hair. Before I could make it back to the den (where I had foolishly left the scissors) Belle came running into the kitchen holding this:
I panicked initially imagining her having to get her hair chopped off to her chin to even it out, but it turns out you can't even tell. Fortunately she has a lot of hair. (Oh, and after the initial panic about her hair was over I began to panic realizing if she cut her hair that quickly she could have just as easily cut her hand or anything else that quickly...scary thought)

Bib

Now that Everett is a champion drooler I thought it was time for him to start wearing bibs! A friend of mine gave me some super cute ones that looked easy to make, so I tried to copy them and was pleased with how my first attempt came out:
maybe I should have taken a pic of the original so you can see if mine even remotely resembles it, but I didn't, so you can just imagine that mine is just as cute! :)

poor Ev!

Poor little Everett has had a cough for a while and has had to do a breathing treatment 2-3 times a day this week to help with it. Poor little guy. He has not liked it!

Hamburger Buns

I tried to make hamburger buns the other day and this is what I got (next to a regular sized bun for comparison):Oh well, I'll try again another time! (Even though they are tiny they did make yummy sandwich buns later on!)

Cute Baby Fix

Homemade Finger Paint Fun

I got a great idea from a blog to make finger paint and paint on the walls in the shower. The girls LOVED it! So if you need a fun activity for a rainy day...or any day...it is fun and easy!
Here's the link with the recipe:
and here's what my sweet girls looked like enjoying it:
